Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Historical and Archaeological Research accepts articles in Bulgarian and English. Please take into consideration the following requirements when submitting your text:
• The article’s title should be written in the original language of the text and should be translated into English
• The author’s name should be written in the original language of the text and should be translated into English
• The article should include abstracts (at least 400 words) in English and in Bulgarian
• Keywords (at least 5) in English and in Bulgarian should be added after the abstract
• If there are pictures, charts, diagrams, schemes, etc., they should be placed in their exact place within the text with consecutive numbers and annotations
• The archival sources should be cited in footnotes
• The Harvard short reference system should be used when citing information sources
• When referencing titles written in Bulgarian or other language which does not use Latin script (i.e. Russian or Greek), the official translation given by the author or the publisher (if available) in a language using the Latin alphabet (i.e. English, German, French) should be given in first place in the references list, followed by the original publication’s lingual format in square brackets. This information is usually provided on the title page or the imprint page of a monograph, or in the contents list of proceedings and journals. Alongside the article’s title and citation details, the name of the edition should also be translated
• In the case that the aforementioned official translation is not provided or it is in a language which does not use Latin script, transliteration according the Bulgarian Transliteration Law should be applied, followed again by the title and citation details in their original lingual format in square brackets
• When referencing literature written in a language which uses the Latin alphabet, these should be written verbatim without any alteration, translation or transliteration

The quotation should be placed before the punctuation mark – example:
The term has Latin origin and according to the Oxford Latin Lexicon it means “painstaking, diligent, zealous work / business / activity” (Glare 2012: 977, 978). This definition of the term is quite general and goes beyond the economic explanation of the industry as part of the economy…

III. SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
For the writing of reviews of new issues/editions (monographs, proceedings)
to be included in the Journal of Historical and Archaeological Researches

The Journal accepts for publication – in Bulgarian and English – reviews or presentations of new issues or editions of monographs or proceedings. The text layout should follow the same guidelines as the articles – with the exceptions of abstract and keywords – which are not required. Its total length should be from 1 to 5 standard pages of approximately 9000 characters including spaces. The references provided for literature, archival materials etc. if used, should follow the general guidelines of the Journal.
